Web 2.0 Do Now: Writing Prompt (cloak)

Wearing an invisible cloak for 1 day, I would definitely perform a good deed. Especially during this time many people could use extra cheering up. People who lost someone in the family or if someone is upset, being there without them knowing who I am would make me feel special that I did something to make someone happy.
A good deed I would do for someone who is elderly is bring them groceries and make them dinner. Learning from experience, when I make my grandparents dinner or bring them coffee they always get cheered up.

Doing good deeds makes not only the person who you are doing something good for but it makes you feel good inside. After doing something nice you feel a sense of relief and calmness thinking you made someone feel good or smile.

Do Now 11/30 Writing Prompt

There are several people I am truly grateful for in my life. For example, my mom, my brother, and my grandmother. Firstly, I am grateful for my mom. She always is there to listen to whatever I need to say. In addition, whenever she notices I am upset she gives helpful advice and always manages to cheer me up.
In addition, someone who I am grateful for is my brother. My brother is an older figure who I know I can look up to for anything. Last year as a freshman, he was a senior and he'd talk to me about how the school works and guide me into transitioning to a new school. He'd also help me with sports and come and support me at my games.
Lastly, I am extremely grateful for my grandma. Even though I don't get to see her every day or all the time, I call her everyday to see how she is doing. She always manages to make me smile and cheer me up all the time.

Twitter Swaps Star for Heart as its New
Favorite Icon

  • The social network said Tuesday that the familiar star icon on tweets used to express approval has morphed into a heart icon.

  • Now known as a "like," Twitter's new icon will also let people favorite the six-second videos on Twitter-owned Vine ; similar to what they can already do on Twitter's live-streaming Periscope.

  • Twitter is struggling to get its users to enjoy the new icon.

  • It's also seeking ways to make itself simpler to use and, therefore, more attractive to both users and advertisers.

Web 2.0: Multimedia Blog Pre-Posting

English 2

The class I am newly taking this year is English 2. My teacher is Mrs. Millar. What I expect and want to learn going into this class is new literary terms and different styles and techniques of writing skills. Also, I want to learn how to write free verse writing and different types of poems. So far into the school year we talked about the expecting topics that we are going to learn, and we learned a total of 65 new literary terms. In addition, for extra credit we are allowed to create a story, write sentences, or create flashcards with the definitions and a visual illustration to make you understand the term.

Recently, in English 2 we had a literary term quiz. Before the quiz we had to write the definitions of the terms and then we worked in groups to illustrate what each term. In addition, we played an educational learning game on the literary devices that were going to be on the quiz the next day. I noticed that playing the game made it competitive and made all of the students want to participate.

Moreover, what I am looking forward to this year is the expected field trip we are suppose to go on. We are required to maintain a certain GPA and are required to read a book before attending the trip. We are planning to go to New York and we are going to have clues based on the book. Once the class found out about the trip everyone was immediately interested. What I want to expect to learn by the end of the year is writing descriptive essays and to further enjoy learning about English!
